Results show marked changes in that system over the last 30 years, but also point out the need for establishing clear protocols for glacier monitoring from remote-sensing data. We present an example analysis of change in Cordillera Blanca glaciers, as determined by comparing data in the GLIMS Glacier Database to historical data. Preoperative malnutrition is common among patients having gastrointestinal resections and is associated with an increased risk of severe surgical complications.
Malnourished patients were 1.29 (95% CI: 1.13-1.47) times more likely to develop severe surgical complications, and 2.15 (95% CI: 1.27-3.65) times more likely to die within 30 days, as compared to those who were not.
